Two of them strip any fighters shields pretty quickly and obviously the best part - minimal hull damage.
Really only need one or two in a separate group. If personally flying a fighter and trying to get others to bail, I like using Pulsed Beam Emitters. Just got a panther and ran through groups of them until one bailed.
